Driving Business Competitiveness: Investing in Mental Fitness and Employee Engagement
Submission Guidelines
Business Leaders, Managers, Researchers, Academicians and Professionals committed to people wellness, mental fitness, people engagement, safety and productivity in the Workplace are invited to present on topics related to the Conference Theme. Presentations may be delivered through a Poster or a 90 minutes interactive breakout session.

Experience Level of Intended Audience
Please indicate whether your presentation is meant for attendees with (1) novice level of experience, or for (2) those with advanced experience.
Presentation Format
Interactive presentations
These breakout sessions will be scheduled for 90 minutes-long timeslots, including 15 minutes of Questions & Answers. The goal of the interactive presentation will be to present the depth of material, while still incorporating the audience participation of a workshop
Poster presentations
For the poster-style presentations, a rotating, mini-lecture format that will aim to maximize number of attendees per poster, while minimizing repetition for the individual presenting the poster and taking questions.
Deliverables for participants
Please include at least THREE deliverables or outcomes for your presentation as participants are keen to register for presentations which they view as beneficial and practical.
Brief CV of presenter/s
A one-paragraph mini biography with a general overview of your professional background. Of particular interest will be existing academic, research, or work experience that addresses organizational wellness, especially mental well-being and employee engagement in the workplace.
Submissions
Submissions must be single-spaced, font size 12, Arial in Word format, and in English.
Acceptance of a presentation does not imply any commitment on the part of the Conference Organization Committee to provide financial assistance to the presenter or waiver from paying conference registration fees. The Lead Presenter is required to ensure that all Co-Presenters are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.
Presenters are also requested to submit a digital photo in a passport format.
Selection of presenters
The APEAR Executive Board will review abstracts and presenters will be notified by March 15, 2010 about the Board's decisions.
The Board’s selection of presenters will depend on the relevancy and attractiveness of the topic to delegates, relatedness to the Conference theme, presenter qualifications and well-written behaviourally based deliverables, amongst other factors.
In order for a Break-Out Session to appear in the proceedings, the following conditions must be satisfied:
- the abstract must be approved by the APEAR Board by March 15 , 2010
- the presenter must have registered for the conference by March 12, 2010
- the presenter must have submitted the powerpoint slides of their presentation by March 12, 2010
Proposals received after February 28, 2010 may not appear in the Proceedings, even though it may still be possible for the individual to present at the conference.
PowerPoint Presentations
- Presentations will be delivered using APEAR powerpoint templates.
- In addition, presentations will be saved, converted to PDF files, and made available on the conference website for APEAR members after the conference. Agreeing to present at the APEAR Conference 2010 implies consent to having your presentation converted and made available exclusively on-line for APEAR members after the conference.
General Information for Presenters
We expect presenters:
- To work closely with conference organizers before the conference and meet all deadlines
- To make no substantial changes in content, format, audio/visual needs, room set-up, identity or number of presenters without prior approval of conference organizers
- To design and provide high-quality PowerPoint presentations, in electronic format, by the deadline given
- To recognize that a conference presentation is an opportunity to share information and is not a showcase for promotion of business, practice, service or product
- To be available for press interviews. Your efforts to accommodate press for interviews and quotes will be appreciated. Members of the press may be attending your session.
In Return, APEAR will:
- Provide you with your session evaluation scores after the conference
- Grant you valuable professional exposure
In Accordance with the specified dates, we invite you to submit a proposal to share your experience and expertise with your colleagues in mental health, HR, management, occupation health and safety, work life, and areas involving employee well-being. Others will benefit from your experience while you make a valuable contribution to the profession's field of knowledge.
